POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES

 

 


Under direct supervision, assists plumbers in the installation, maintenance and repair of piping for water, gas, waste, soil and vent lines; performs related work.
Examples of Typical Tasks


• Assists plumber in the installation of plumbing fixtures.
• Carries tools and working materials and prepares same at work locations.
• Cuts or drills openings as may be necessary for installation or repair of plumbing pipes and fixtures.
• Cuts and threads pipe with hand or electrically operated tools.
• Cleans up work areas.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

 


1. Three (3) years of full-time satisfactory experience as a plumber’s helper or apprentice plumber acquired within the last 12 years; OR
2. Not less than one year of experience as described in “1” above plus sufficient training of a relevant nature acquired in an approved trade or vocational high school to make up the equivalent of three years of acceptable experience. Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of approved trade or vocational high school.

Position Description and Duties

Hunter College is seeking temporary Office Assistants to perform secretarial and clerical duties in various academic departments.

 

Typical Tasks include:

 

  • Types/prints letters, memos, forms and various documents using typewriters, computers and peripheral equipment.

 

  • Proofreads material for accuracy and make corrections as necessary.

 

  • Maintains departmental records; keeps separate confidential records when instructed.

 

  • Provides information as instructed to faculty, students, staff and the general public.

 

  • Answers, screens and forwards/refers incoming calls; takes accurate messages.

POSITION DESCRIPTION AN D DUTIES

 

 

This class of positions provides various services to disabled students. There are two assignment levels within this class. The following are typical tasks within this class of positions. Employees may perform other related duties for the purpose of providing support services to disabled students. Depending upon the needs of service, the duties of this position may require the use of one’s own automobile in the performance of official duties; moreover, these duties may be performed on campus or at the student’s home. Positions report to the College Director of Services for Students With Disabilities, or equivalent. Upon application to the University Personnel Director, a college may utilize this title for persons who are to provide similar services to disabled employees.

Level 2 - Examples of typical tasks:

• Provide academic advising for students in transition and those in need of temporary accommodations.

• Provide academic advisement to students during pre registration and registration period.

• Participate in Advisory program activities, including academic and personal enrichment workshops and conferences.

• Enroll new students who request services from the Office of AccessABILITY and determine their accommodations based on their documentation.

• Service a caseload of students already receiving services/support through the Office of AccessABILITY.

• Counsel and advocate based on students’ documentation.

• Plan and conduct inter and intra college workshops, to distribute information about the program services.

• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions.

• Provide mediation and work as a liaison between the staff, faculty and students.

• Collaborate with other program counselors and coordinators in the design and implementation of in-service training programs for tutors, proctors, readers and academic assistants.

• Attend intra and inter departmental meetings.

• Maintain files for follow up and reporting purposes.

• Maintain and provide reports to the program Director as requested.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

 

Minimum Requirements:

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education and four years of related work experience OR

Education and/or work experience that is equivalent to the above.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced coursework or degree in Psychology, Disabilities, Counseling, and/or Social Work or a related field with two+ years of experience in Student Services or higher education is a preferred.

POSITION DESCRIPTION AN D DUTIES

 

 

Established in 1870, Hunter College enjoys a national reputation as a leader in public urban education. Hunter is the largest college in the City University of New York (CUNY) educational system, comprising 5 campus locations throughout Manhattan The College seeks a strong leader to continue the development and maintenance of the College’s facilities.

Under executive direction, with widest latitude for exercise of independent judgment and action, the Chief Administrative Superintendent of Campus Buildings and Grounds responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Oversee every aspect of the physical plant operation including short and long term design and construction, corrective and preventative maintenance, engineering, housekeeping/custodial services, vertical transportation and energy and power usage;

• Review and comment on major construction projects or renovations as requested by appropriate college and University administrators;

• Responsible for administrative and/or ancillary functions required by and in support of the operations and functions of the department including personnel, training and development, labor relations, discipline, budget preparation and implementation;

• Serve as the college liaison with CUNY Central and other NYC and NYS agencies for code compliance and major construction and repair projects;

• Promote and enhance efficient and safe management, operation and maintenance of all campus facilities;

• Coordinate strategic, emergency and short and long range planning activities for safe facility operations;

• Ensure adherence to City, State, and Federal codes and regulations including the handling and removal of toxic materials from the campus building and grounds;

• Set policies for garbage removal including toxic wastes;

• Direct and develop recycling programs;

• Participate in policy planning and implementation concerning all matters under his/her jurisdiction;

• Oversee the purchase of materials and equipment needed for the department, in adherence with the university purchasing regulations;

• Ensure necessary certification of staff to accomplish standardized and quality work;

• Serve as advisor to the Senior executives of the college;

• Direct the work of Administrative Superintendents and other facilities staff; and

• Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

 

Minimum Requirements :

A baccalaureate degree in related field of study from an accredited college and six years of related experience of which four years must be progressive full-time managerial/administrative experience in the management and/or operation and maintenance of buildings and grounds such as large hotels, educational complexes, large office buildings, or large building complexes, large gardens or parks; OR

A valid New York State Registration as an architect and five years of related experience of which three years must be progressive, full-time managerial/administrative experience as described in “1” above; OR

A valid New York State professional engineer’s license and five years of related experience of which three years must be progressive, full-time managerial/administrative experience as described in “1” above; OR

A valid New York State High Pressure Boiler Operating Engineer’s license, a four year high school diploma or its equivalent, and eight years of related experience of which six years must be progressive, full time managerial/administrative experience as described in “1” above; OR

A four year high school diploma or its equivalent and 10 years of related experience of which six years must be progressive, full time managerial/administrative experience as described in “1” above; OR

A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to “1”, “2”, “3”, “4” and “5” above. In addition an advanced degree in a managerial field from an accredited college may be substituted for an additional year of managerial/administrative experience. However, all candidates must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent, and five years of related experience of which three years must be managerial/administrative experience as described in “1” above.

Preferred Qualifications :

Candidates with a High Pressure Boiler Operating Engineer’s License and experience working in a complex organization overseeing a large facilities operation are strongly preferred.
