The successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach courses in topics based on human biology, such as diseases, nutrition, epidemiology and on forensic biology, including a survey of biological principles used in forensic biology and analysis of biological evidence. The individual will also be responsible for teaching a course in microbiology geared to nursing students and other allied health professions. The contractual workload for Lecturers is 27 contact hours per year or 5 courses in one semester and 4 in the other. Lecturers will also be required to provide mentoring and advising as part of their routine duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor's degree area(s) of expertise and other qualifications noted below as being necessary for satisfactory performance of job duties. Also required is the ability to teach successfully.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
PhD Degree in Molecular or Cellular Biology. The candidate must have a strong background in current topics in biology and evidence of scientific achievements, including publications. The candidate must have demonstrated evidence of significant success as a teacher and a strong commitment to scholarship, and willingness to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ideal candidate will have an MSW degree, successful teaching experience in more than one area of the curriculum (particularly in theories of human behavior and/or organizations), at least two years practice experience, and a proven track record of funded research. Applicants with demonstrated success in agency and community based partnerships that provide opportunities for faculty scholarship and the development of improved service models and delivery systems are especially encouraged to apply. We are especially interested in applicants with a strong scholarly record in practice and research with children, youth, and families, older adults, and/or mental health and substance abuse.

Hunter College of The City University of New York invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in bioinformatics and high performance computing. The anticipated start date is Fall 2010 or earlier. Hiring rank is open at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level, based upon qualifications.
The successful applicant is expected to conduct an independent research program and establish interdisciplinary research collaborations with cyberinfrastructure colleagues at Hunter and across CUNY. The appointment will be made in the Department of Computer Science or the Department of Biological Sciences depending on qualifications.
Hunter's biomedical research community, including the Center for Study of Gene Structure and Function, is supported by extensive funding from NIH and NSF. Hunter College is strategically located in Manhattan near other major biomedical research centers and universities and attracts an engaging and diverse student body.

We seek candidates with expertise in the development, adaptation and implementation of algorithms applied to such data-intensive biological areas as (but not limited to) next-generation sequencing, biomedical ontologies, and systems biology.

Works with the Coordinator of Library Instruction in planning, promoting, developing and delivering library instruction and the advancement of Information Literacy skills. Participates in reference services, library instruction and collection development. Represents the Libraries on appropriate Department/College/University committees.

ALA accredited MLS/MLIS or its equivalent, plus an additional Master’s degree or Ph.D. required. Willingness to engage in professional scholarly activity; and ability to meet tenure and promotional requirements.
Highly desirable: Strong interpersonal skills; increasingly responsible managerial and supervisory experience in an academic library; proven success in planning, managing and introducing change, grant writing; and excellent written and oral communication skills.
